My Day of Doctor Visits

Today I took a vacation day from work as I had 3 doctor appointments in Manhattan. Rodney took the day off to spend with me running around the city.

My first appointment was with a new dermatologist. I loved my old one, but it is so hard and frustrating to get an appointment with her. I saw Dr Zappi today and he seems lovely. He did one biopsy on my left leg. I just have to hope it isn't another basel cell, but if it is it is not a big deal to get it taken removed. He pointed out a few spots on my left leg that he didn't like the look of that I hadn't even paid attention to previously. All those sunburns are really catching up to me.

A major WOW moment – he said that I don't look like I was ever a pound overweight! What an amazing comment for somebody who is now half their former size. The second WOW moment was after examining my face he told me that I had beautiful skin. That is pretty incredible coming from a dermatologist!:)

After the dermatologist Rodney and I had an amazing breakfast at the Nectar Café on 79th and Madison. It is a little hole in the wall type of place, but I had the best omelet I think I've ever had in my lift. It was a mozzarella cheese, tomato and basil omelet. I would highly recommend going there for breakfast.

My second appointment was with Dr. Pomp, my gastric bypass surgeon. This was my two year follow-up appointment. I can't believe it will be two years on 12/9. He asked were the downsides to the surgery. I told him there weren't any. He asked again, and I gave him the same answer :). The third time he asked, I came up with a downside, which is my fear of gaining weight. He said the statistics aren't favorable in terms of weight gain. Apparently 75% of people who start with a BMI over 50 maintain a BMI 35 or under. The upside is that the lifestyle changes I've made will work in my favor:). I am so happy to have had Dr. Pomp as my surgeon; he is absolutely wonderful.

After Dr. Pomp we had some lunch and then we went to Starbuck's to hang out and get out of the rain for a while.

I went to Dr. Sterry for my last appointment of the day. He took the stitches out and both of us were happy that there was no sign of the infection returning. He also did more steroid shots in the scar above my belly button and they hurt just as much as they did the first time! I am so thrilled with my results.
